back again

Firstly I have to say sorry for the lack of posts, after a trip away and another illness to add to the tally for the year, with only 1 event left to ride and having had a couple of weeks of very little training, I think it may be time to rap for the year.
So its time for a rest to separate this season from next and to come up with a game plan for the winter and next year.

Last race for a few weeks today, so I thought I had better make it a good one. As it turned out I did a power and time Pb for the local course with 406w av and 19:48, shame the time keeper disagreed, I think he should have gone to spec savers!. Other than that, all was good. Now for a couple of weeks rebuild to finish the season on a high note.

I re-learnt a valuable lesson this weekend, make sure your equipment is fit for purpose and working properly, after making the 120m round trip and putting in a tt effort for 43 miles, I had to pull out of the 50tt on Sunday. All started well, felt really good, went through the first 25 in 51:52. But I was having some discomfort from the chamois in my suit. It started getting worse and worse until I had to stop on the side of the road at 32 miles, tried to sort the problem, and continued on, at 43m enough was enough and I decided to call it a day before I lost the ability to father anymore children!
Other than that it was a good ride and a good indicator of form averaging 360w for the distance I did cover, although I think a PB was pretty much a dead cert, so as they say 'such is life'.
So, after a day off today to let me 'recover', I have an open event on Wednesday on my local club course, and off to France on the weekend for a working holiday.

until next time.

Well, this week has been a busy one, last week I went and did some aero testing for the first time, a mixture between the velodrome and local roads. All looks promising, and after riding a couple of club events, it looks as tho any advantage I found in testing has almost completely translated to the road. With another week of training under my belt, power seems to be going up nicely for a good end of season campaign. And with 20:12 and 20:04 I'm hoping I may actually get the 19 on the club course Ive always wanted. yippee!!

Today, the merthyr cc had a club 25 on the r25/3, as there are not many opens on there this year I wasn't going to miss the opportunity to ride, as it turns out, it was a good idea as the conditions wern't too bad ,even if the wind was in the wrong direction, which made for a very even and heavy feeling night, I managed 48-50 at 385w which matches my 25 power from last, but a pb time. second on the day was stu dodd with 49-20, 18 seconds of his personal. felt quite lucky as we all had a dry ride, then the heavens opens straight after. now for some food!

Well, here is today 10 mile effort, new power pb today of 416w, it was also the hardest as well, not often I feel physically sick after an effort! glad I hadnt eaten before hand, still dont feel like I have any zip in my legs, time to start some more focused training to finish the season on a high note.

hello

You will have to forgive me if this isn't any good as its my first ever blog.
Bit of back ground on cycling so far, after a lay off from racing properly for about 7 years, I have decided to have a proper effort to see how far I can go, after 2 events last season, I intended training for a full winter ready for this year, but after ending up on an operating table last Christmas training didn't start til Feb this year.
So, this years aims where to complete a full season of racing, achieve a cp60 of 380w+, a cp20 of 400w+, maintain a weight of 90kg for the season, ( to make it easier to reach the racing weight of 77-80 kg for next year), and try and get some Pb's if the opportunity arises.

Up to this point, I have raced since March, a cp60 of 392w, a cp20 of 410w and hovered around 91kg all year. Best times this year are 49:50 for a 25, and 19:40 for a 10.

So, overall I'm reasonably happy as I have been ill quite alot ( the joys of kids in school!!), and hav'nt done any focused interval work other than club 10's.

Hopefully your still awake and now up to speed with progress this far, watch this space for updates,

till next time,
